Dashing Detective Die and the Case of the Perception Epistemology

developed by chegusta during the GMTK Jam 2022 ("Roll of the Dice")

BRIEFING

A murder has occurred in the Miniature Municipality! After the murder mystery in the atrocious apartment was solved, the landlord needs an accurate assessment of the furniture layout to trick future tenants into believing that it is not the abode that hosted the appalling act.

Since humans are too huge to assess this serious situation, they have decided to deploy the delicate and dashing Detective Decorator Die to figure out the furniture configuration.

  • Throw Dashing Detective Die into the crime scene and watch him land graciously
  • Once grounded, you may use W and S in combination with Die's jump (SPACE) to reorient yourself
  • If you find yourself in a pickle, use R to reroll and send Detective Die to investigate somewhere else
  • Pressing TAB opens the furniture layout view
  • Use your perception - and some luck - to locate the position of the furniture pieces and place them accordingly

DEV NOTES:

Unfortunately, because of time constraints there is no player feedback system for correctly placed furniture. Feel free to post a screenshot of your layout in the comments however!

Also, the layout screen reloads (sorry…).

quite hard to look around, would have been nice to be able to rotate left and right. Other than that, it's quite fun and I think I got it :p

hey, thank you for giving it a try! I had left/right rotation implemented but felt like the player had too much control with it. cheers!

whoopsies, and good job on the layout!
